About Chris Rush

Chris Rush is a writer, artist, and designer.  His memoir, The Light Years, published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux, was a New York Times Book Review Editor’s Choice and a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award.  His essays have appeared in Harper’s Magazine and The New York Times/T Magazine, among other publications.  

A recent recipient of the Gottlieb Award, he was also awarded the Maurice Sendak Residency at from Yaddo in 2022.   His art is currently featured in the Brains + Beauty exhibition at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. 

Chris divides his time between Arizona and Oregon.
